Category Archives: Destination Weddings

I do accept a select number of destination weddings a year; I have my cameras and passport ready for travel worldwide. (I do not charge for my travels for a few reasons; send me an inquiry about your wedding plans and I’ll explain why!) For all local Portland weddings, please visit my friends at ANIKO Productions … They’re wonderful!!!

I am a Portland-based film photographer who specializes in boudoir and family portrait photography. My blog is intended to help clients get the most out of their boudoir or family photo sessions with me and to provide expert advice to other photographers as well. I welcome questions, comments, and suggestions about my blog. I am also happy to share my blog with other bloggers, particularly those dealing with professional boudoir and portrait photography, travel or any combination thereof.

Bucket List: Shoot a Beautiful Indian Wedding (Check!)

That one time I shot a multi-day, 16-plus-hour Indian wedding and lived to tell about it. [faints] Since I started my photography business in 2007, I had always secretly wanted to have the stunning and vivid colors of a beautiful Indian wedding in my portfolio. But, it never happened even up to when I announced that I would no longer accept weddings last April. Ironically, months later a friend contacted me because her friends were frantically looking for a new wedding photographer to replace the one who had abandoned them just a month before their wedding date. Really, who does that?? So, I met with the bride and groom to see if we would be a good fit together… Within moments after leaving my studio, they told me that they wanted me as their wedding photographer. Awe!!

Festive Wedding Photography Puerto Rico Style!

What a better way to start my 2014 wedding year… and end it?

Yes, it’s true: I am no longer accepting weddings as I pursue another chapter in my business which is Boudoir Photography, including Bridal Boudoir. My first and “last” wedding this year took me all the way to Puerto Rico where I had the honor to document Mounty & Michael’s romantic wedding in Old San Juan at Hotel El Convento. I’ve known the bride since she was just the super shy new girl in town; now, she’s like a little sister to me. I adore her so much even when she gives her other big sisters and me grief— that’s what little sisters do! Luckily, we all still love her a lot. ;) ¡Felicidades, Mounty y Michael! Les deseamos a ambos toda la felicidad del mundo!

Mounty is the kind of person who is always there for you, always. And. No. Matter. How. She was there for me as a bridesmaid on my own wedding day 12 years ago; so, it makes me beyond happy that I was able to be there for her on her wedding day. This video highlights some of the best moments that we all shared together that day: Puerto Rico Wedding Video at Hotel El Convento in Old San Juan … Enjoy it with us as we relive those memories over and over again! (And it was a hot day, oy!)

A Windy Yet Sweet Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Photo Shoot

I first met April when she commissioned me, on behalf of Nike, for 2011 Nike Sneaker Ball Portland. It was a super fun event with sneakers everywhere! Fast forward two years later, I met with April again … But, this time it would be on the famous Brooklyn Bridge in New York City for her “engagement photos.” Those words in quotations because Jamel didn’t officially propose until a few weeks after. (And the official bling ring? Jamel did GOOD!) Their tropical destination wedding is going to be so GOOD!
